Child Therapy in Clinton Township, MI
If your child is struggling with anxiety, big emotions, or behavior challenges, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out on your own.
At Next Chapter Therapy Services, we help children better understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors while building skills they can actually use in real life at home, at school, and with peers.
How We Help
Children don’t always have the words to explain what they’re feeling, but their behaviors often tell the story.
We support children who are experiencing:
Anxiety or excessive worry
Emotional outbursts or difficulty regulating emotions
Behavior challenges at home or school
Difficulty adjusting to changes (school, family, routines)
Social challenges or peer conflict
And more!
How Child Therapy Works
Therapy with children looks different than therapy with adults—and it should.
Children learn best through connection, play, and hands-on experiences. Sessions are designed to feel safe, engaging, and supportive, while still being intentional and skill-based.
We use a combination of:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Play-based interventions
Creative and interactive activities
This allows children to:
Understand their emotions
Identify unhelpful thought patterns
Learn and practice coping skills
Build confidence and emotional awareness
Parent Involvement Matters
More Than Just Coping Skills
Many children can name coping skills—but struggle to actually use them when emotions feel overwhelming.
In therapy, we go beyond simply teaching skills. We focus on helping your child:
- Recognize what they’re feeling in the moment
- Understand what’s driving their reactions
- Practice using skills in a way that feels natural and realistic
The goal is for these skills to carry over into everyday life—not just stay in the therapy room.Parents play a huge role in your child’s progress.
We work collaboratively with parents by:
- Providing updates and feedback
- Sharing strategies that can be used at home
- Help you better understand your child’s needs
This team approach helps create consistency and lasting change.Your Questions, Answered
